I create works of art as a way of better understand myself, communities, and the world in which I live. This creation is an act of love, healing, and compassion that serves as my outward expression of life and being. I use sound and silence as tools to create musical works that encourage stillness, mindfulness, and a focus on the here and now. My musical creations, which are acoustic in nature, are an extension of my experience and a representation on how I perceive the world. In my attempt to bring more stillness to my own life, many of my creations contain meditative sounds. I also combine my nature and landscape photography with the process of creating musical works. I am deeply inspired by nature and I view the creation of art as a very important ecological act. My work as an artist is a way to serve my community. Through my work, I wish to portray to my audience my life experiences and enthusiasm for living. Sound and silence encompass every aspect of our beings and of our world in the microcosmic realm and the macrocosmic realm. Silence is the emptiness dancing in every part of our being. I try to use this sound and silence in my work to create harmony in life and to express meaning that is beyond words and beyond our “selves”. Listening is as huge part of my compositional process…it is an act of love. To listen is to be. Art for me is an act of creation, a way of being, one that comes from the heart and is a representation of my reality. My goal for my work is to encourage people to look at, listen to, and feel their world in a way that will bring them happiness, hopefulness, stillness, and love to their lives.
